“Mingalar par, Hotel by the Red Canal, Mandalay”

We like to say a big thank you to all staff in the hotel for making our stay so memorable. We arrived on 24 September & we were greeted by your friendly staffs at the entrance. We were thrilled to see our names on the "Welcome Board" & took some pictures next to it. More surprises lay ahead of us when we strolled inside the hotel. The hotel is so enchanting & mesmerizing like an oasis. The room is clean & absolutely perfect for first timer traveling to Mandalay. There are daily free high teas in the afternoon & cocktail party at the pool in the evening. We love the local snacks & the cocktail drinks shake by the lovely bartender, Swee. The in-house breakfast was fabulous & don't forget to try their Indian cusines. The spa we find quite relaxing due to the ambience but for the massage we felt not so skillful enough to ease our tension. We booked a one-day private tour with a personal driver in the hotel to various places of interest we have selected. We
were so blessed to be stressed as our driver, Win is very good who took great care on us along the way giving us water to drink & wet napkin to wipe our faces. There was a temple we lingered for quite long at the top of the hill that made our driver a little worry, as he was afraid that we might miss the sunset at U Bein Bridge. He cruised all the way up to the top to look for us & we ran down with full speed before the sunset. We were so touched by his kind gesture & never forget the beauty of the sun below the western horizon. On the day of departure on 26 September, we checked-out & again we were surprised that there is a cameraman at the lobby awaiting for us to take some snapshot with the hotel staff we adored. We will so reluctant to leave & promised them we will be back again hopefully by next year. The staff waved goodbye to us at the entrance when our taxi preparing to send us back to airport.

Thank you so much to all the staff at the Red Canal. We love you, chit-tey!
Room Tip: Infact, i will said most rooms at any location are good.

“Superb Boutique Hotel”

Our only regret is that we didn't stay in this hotel on our previous visit to Mandalay. Hotel by the Red Canal is a very attractive, traditional design Burmese property, i a quiet neighbourhood. The grounds are well maintained and the refreshing outdoor pool very looked after. Our ground florr suite gad secluded patio, adjacent an attractive water feature, while the suite itself was niceky furnished and fully equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful,, particularly when I had difficulty getting out of the bathtub, due to a medical issue, and three young men helped me out/The on-site restaurant was delightful, and included a number of outside tables overlooking the pool.
Room Tip: All are good.

“Wonderful experience”

Cannot fault this hotel on quality and service. Very friendly efficient and welcoming. We had a Kachin room with an outdoor shower and waterfall that we could turn on and off from inside. The room was quite small but very well furnished. Bathroom well appointed, toiletries not as described in the brochures but still more than adequate and better than the average hotel. Onsite restaurant served excellent Indian at night, great breakfast and a very generous cocktail happy hour by the pool each night.
Room Tip: The Ground floor rooms with balconies and stream open to the poolside/restaurant side of the hotel...

“Oasis in a dusty city”

Enjoyed my stay here immensely. We had a 'Shan' room, which is one of the better ones. After visiting busy, dusty, dirty Mandalay, this hotel was an oasis of cool each afternoon. Great staff, nice PC lounge for when wifi doesn't work (most of the time), nice common areas including pool. We ate at their restaurant (Indian) which was fine. We had to book rooms at a different hotel for part of our stay, but were able to return for one night at the end of our visit, and it was definitely nice coming back, having seen what other hotels are like. High season prices are ridiculously high, but to be fair, we were offered a negotiated discount when we turned down the rack rate. The only reason we didn't take it was that we had pre-paid elsewhere already. would recommend to friends. The nightly cocktails by the pool is also a good chance to mingle with other visitors, and we met some lovely folks that way.

“Great memories!”

In a nutshell we loved it! This delightful hotel is not top of our list of the best places we have stayed but it is certainly memorable and leaves us with a warm glow. The room(Chin suite) was quite small but made more difficult to manage by the layout and use of traditional heavy teak furniture and fittings. For example a large double bed set up against a side wall meaning, it could only be accessed from one side was a little alarming. The next challenge was twisting one's neck around a pillar in the middle of the room to view the TV followed by hurdling over the stone 'garden ' to have a shower. Those less agile perhaps ought to seek a modern box hotel which are filing cabinets for people!

The small swimming pool was a great delight after busy days of sight-seeing and dusty streets.

Breakfasts were OK in the range of options and the quality of food but the organisation of the buffet could have been better which was laid out in a L shape. Plates were stacked in the corner next to the toasting machine which made if difficult to take a plate if someone was waiting for toast.

We used the restaurant for dinner twice and we really liked the food but the kitchen was let down by the non availability of some drinks. The bar could not supply the local Myanmar wine of our choice and were out of stock of standard international soft drinks. I cannot say whether this was poor stock management or forces beyond their control i.e. importation delays but not to have a supply of local wine (Red Mountain SB) was very disappointing.

During our visit one of us had a birthday and the wonderful staff who were on duty in the late afternoon all turned up with a cake, candles and a rendition of Happy Birthday! My husband was delighted!.

What makes this hotel so special? Quite simply the staff and the complimentary services to guests. The management of this hotel ( who were never in evidence) have clearly thought about how to make their business appealing and to ask customer opinion about how to keep improving. The quality questionnaire asked if every item of equipment in the room worked so they were capturing information about staff performance as well as customer feedback.

We would highly recommend this hotel but guide users to its limitations.

We really loved this hotel. A lot was packed into a small space, but you didn't feel claustrophobic. The pool was small but quite usable, and the room overlooked the pool and garden. The whole place was beautifully polished teak. The staff were so helpful, and the restaurant was excellent. I did use the tiny spa and had a massage done by a local girl and it was very professional and relaxing. A really good stay in Mandalay.

“Great food excellent service”

The best place to have genuine Indian food in mandalay I would say with the orders hardly taking any time and with the cosy surroundings it makes for a great evening out with your friends or your special someone. The locale is amidst lush greenery all around. Really a place worth a visit and once you come here u will be here again and again .
